The 2025 CFC Open Intramural
FIRST: If you’re here and you don’t know what “the Open” is, click here to read our explainer!
Back by popular demand… for this year’s CrossFit Open, we’ll be doing a friendly intramural team competition! The goal of this is to add an extra layer of in-house fun to an event that’s already a blast, and to crank up the community participation level as high as possible. We’ve done this in years past and we had a great time with it, so let’s run it back!
BIG new feature for 2025: We’re opening up our in-house competition to folks that aren’t registered for the larger CrossFit Open. So even if you decide not to participate in the worldwide Open, you can still be a part of the fun here with your CFC community!
Check out the following options for participating in the different layers of this year’s Open (you can come back to these later if you’d rather read more details first):

OK! Here’s how it will work:
As we build toward the Open, the coaching staff will keep a close eye on our list of registered athletes. Then right before the announcement of 25.1 (the first Open workout) on February 27th, we’ll finalize and announce the team rosters. The coaching staff will do our best to split up the teams as evenly as possible, with a mix of Rx, Scaled, Masters & Foundations athletes on each team. Each team will have at least one Coach Captain and will be given a color (Team Red, Team Green, etc.).
Then as we go through the three weeks of the Open, each person on a team will have a bunch of ways that they can earn points for their team!
Below is the list of ways you can earn points:
Participation
10 points for completing the Online Judges Course (OJC).
The OJC is an in-depth review of all the important standards for the movements that may appear in the Open workouts. Taking and passing this course is 100% optional, but it will definitely make you a better judge of workouts, and it will also make you a better CrossFit athlete.
The OJC is posted and live right now, so you can get this done anytime between now and the start of the Open. Be aware that the course takes a little bit of time to work through, so focus and do your best! Don’t procrastinate; click here to get started.
⭐️ Important note ⭐️ If you complete and pass the OJC, you’ll get a $10 discount on your next membership renewal to offset the cost of the course. Send a screenshot of your certificate to Steve to get your credit!
5 points for showing up to the Saturday Morning group event wearing your team colors.
Even if you don’t do the workout, come to the Saturday morning group event in your colors and support your teammates!
5 points for officially completing the weekly Open Workout (“officially” meaning “judged, with a scoresheet”).
If at the end of the weekend I have a scoresheet showing your name, your score, and your judge’s signoff, you’re good.
2 points for attending the Saturday Morning group event.
If you attend the group event on Saturday morning, you’ll earn 2 points for your team. Whether you work out or just cheer for your friends, come out and play!
3 points for judging another CFC athlete’s workout.
Every time your name appears on a score sheet as the judge for that workout, you’ll earn 2 points for your team.
3 bonus points (6 total) for judging another CFC athlete’s workout if you’ve completed the Online Judges Course.
If you completed and passed the OJC (see above), you’ll earn *double points* for judging.
10 points for officially completing all three Open workouts.
If you do all three workouts and have an official score for each, you’ll earn a big bonus for your team!
Social Media (IG & FB)
10 points for posting to social media that you registered for the Open (must tag CFC).
Let all your internet friends know that you’re #InTheCFCOpen!
5 points each week for posting your workout results and/or photos to social media (must tag CFC).
Put your score for the week’s workout on your social feed and show the world what you’re doing in the gym.
10 points for making a personal CFC Open recap/results post to social media (must tag CFC).
At the end of the Open, give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. Let your friends know how you did and what you learned about yourself over the three weeks/workouts of the event!
Weekly Team Bonus Points
10 points each week for the team with the most submitted & validated scores.
Keep your teammates accountable and make sure everyone completes the workout each week. Reach out to your stragglers and make sure they show up to the gym!
After the Open ends on Monday, March 17th, we’ll tally up all the points to find out which team is the winner. We’ll announce the winning team at a Post Open Pizza Party on Friday, March 21st at 6pm! We’ll have food, drinks, music and an awards ceremony to celebrate the end of the 2025 Open. Even if you didn’t take part in the Open, you’re invited to the afterparty!
The goal of all this: fun times, participation, and community!
