Hey friends! It’s that time again… the 2023 Open starts this week, on Thursday 2/16! Just like last year’s Open, this event will be 3 weeks long, and will feature a full set of modified options (Rx, Scaled, & Foundations) so that everyone can participate.
If you know you’re in and want to cut to the chase, here’s the registration link: https://games.crossfit.com/register/open
If you’re not familiar with the Open, this video is a great place to start:
Whether you’re registered or not, things will move a little differently here at CFC during the Open. Here’s the flow for the three weeks of the Open (2/16 to 3/6):
Each week on Thursday afternoon at 3:00p Eastern, the Open workout for that weekend will be announced via live stream on the Open website. Don’t worry if you miss it; we’ll post it to SugarWOD shortly after.
then…
Friday (all classes) – The Open workout for the week will be up on the board as the Workout of the Day. This is your first chance to get the workout done.
Saturday 8:30a & 9:45a – The Main Event! Saturday mornings will be the best time to get the Open workout done. Standards will be explained at the start, and we’ll run organized heats until everyone has gotten the workout done. Everyone is welcome, including folks that aren’t registered for the Open.
Sunday 10a – Regular non-Open WOD. Coach on duty will be leading class and will not be available to judge. No Open workouts on the side.
Sunday 3p-5p – Open Gym will be available for folks that still need to get the Open WOD done. No heats, informal.
Monday (all classes) – Regular non-Open WOD. Coach on duty will be leading class and will not be available to judge. You *must* get your Open workout done during the weekend at one of the sessions listed above. No Open workouts on the side during regular Monday classes, no exceptions.
To summarize and emphasize, these are the scheduled times to do your Open workout:
- Friday – all classes
- Saturday – 8:30am to 11:00am
- Sunday – 3pm
These are the *NO-GO* times:
- Sunday – 10:00am
- Monday – ALL DAY
PLAN ACCORDINGLY. If you can’t make any of the available times, reach out to me directly and we’ll figure out a strategy to get your workout in.
